Master of Theology

Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Theology, Bachelor of Ministry, or Master of Divinity. Alternatively, students enrolled in a BTheol or BMin at the University of Divinity with at least 378 points completed may apply, provided the undergraduate degree is completed within 12 months of admission. A Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma is insufficient, and probationary admission is not available.

The Master of Theology consists of 240 points and includes up to 48 points of postgraduate foundational units in any discipline, either a capstone unit (at least 24 points) or a Minor Thesis (RQ9748M, 48 points), plus further postgraduate elective units in any discipline.

At 2026 fees, the course costs $3,384 per standard unit, or $20,304 for a full-time year (6 units). The total cost of the course is $33,840 based on 240 points (10 standard postgraduate units). Fees are subject to change from year to year.

The Master of Theology is available at 11 schools or colleges across Australia, including Australian Lutheran College (Adelaide SA), Catholic Theological College (East Melbourne VIC), Eva Burrows College (Ringwood VIC and Parramatta NSW), Pilgrim Theological College (Parkville VIC), St Barnabas College (North Adelaide SA), St Francis College (Milton QLD), Trinity College Theological School (Parkville VIC), Uniting College for Leadership and Theology (Brooklyn Park SA), Whitley College (Box Hill VIC), Wollaston Theological College (Mount Claremont WA), and Yarra Theological Union (Box Hill VIC).

Yes. Graduates who have completed the Minor Thesis (RQ9748M) to a specified standard may be eligible for admission to higher degrees by research.
