A Master of Translation and TESOL from Western lets you transform your English language ability into a desirable and marketable skill, and qualifies you to teach English as a second language. Subject to demand, Western offers majors in Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese and Spanish. This program also provides practical and theoretical training in interpreting and translation and equips you with the research skills necessary to conduct a small research project in your area of interest. Taught out of our state-of-the-art Parramatta City Campus, you’ll emerge with an advanced skills base that lets you combine travel with career opportunities, both at home and abroad. The Master of Translation and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) provides professional education in two related and complementary disciplines, translation and TESOL. The TESOL component is consistent with the industry standard in the Australian and international contexts. In the translation component you will gain theoretical knowledge and practical training in translation, leading to eligibility to sit for certification by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) at the Certified Translator level. The course is designed for graduates in any field wishing to develop a long-term career in TESOL as well as in translation. Subject to demand, translation training is offered in English and one of the following languages: Arabic, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Spanish or Vietnamese.
