Short-term programs can broadly be classified into six main program types: Short-term Exchange, Short-term Independent Study Abroad, Overseas Work Integrated Learning, Overseas Voluntary Placements, Overseas Not-For-Credit Activity, and International Study Tours.
It depends on the program type. Short-term Exchange and International Study Tours offer academic credit toward your Adelaide University degree. Short-term Independent Study Abroad programs may have credit applied upon return once evidence of successful completion is provided. Overseas Voluntary Placements are primarily unpaid and do not contribute to academic credit, and Overseas Not-For-Credit Activities also sit outside degree requirements.
Short-term programs are less than a semester, and generally take place in the June-July or December-January breaks. International Study Tours typically run for 2-4 weeks.
For Short-term Independent Study Abroad programs, you are not enrolled in an Adelaide University course, and you pay all fees directly to the host institution or provider. After being approved by Adelaide University, you may apply directly to the overseas university, or the third-party provider who is facilitating the program.
Yes. Even for Overseas Not-For-Credit Activities, which sit outside of your degree requirements and do not meet the definition of an Overseas Voluntary Placement, you still need to register and receive approval for these activities to meet Adelaide University's travel requirements.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
