Pre-Masters Program

There are four specialisations available: Pre-Masters (Engineering), Pre-Masters (Information Technology), Pre-Masters (Art & Design), and Pre-Masters (Media). Each is tailored to prepare students for postgraduate study in their chosen field at UNSW Sydney.

Upon successful completion of the Pre-Masters Program, you can step straight into your chosen master's degree at UNSW Sydney. For example, completing the Pre-Masters (Information Technology) allows you to progress to a master's degree at the UNSW School of Computer Science and Engineering.

The program is designed to enhance your critical thinking, academic writing, project management, research, and communication skills. Depending on the specialisation, you may also develop skills in innovation, entrepreneurship, storytelling, strategy, creative and conceptual abilities, and English language proficiency.

You will have access to world-class UNSW facilities such as libraries, design studios, computer, engineering and science labs, as well as clubs and societies from day one. You will also benefit from the added support of UNSW College, including smaller class sizes so teachers can devote more time and attention to each individual.

Each Pre-Masters course is assessed using a variety of methods resulting in a final mark between 0 and 100. Grades range from High Distinction (HD, 85–100%), Distinction (DN, 75–84%), Credit (CR, 65–74%), Pass (PS, 50–64%), to Fail (FL, below 50%), with additional grades such as Satisfactory (SY), Unsatisfactory Fail (UF), and Academic Withdrawal (AW) also applied where relevant.
