Primary Years P - 6

Yarra Valley Grammar's Junior School program spans Prep to Year 6 and is offered to overseas students under CRICOS course code 054535M. The curriculum emphasises establishing strong skills in the key areas of literacy and numeracy, built around core studies in English, Mathematics, Integrated Studies (covering Science, History and Geography) and Personal Development. These are complemented by specialist instruction in Art and Craft, French, Music, Physical Education, Religious Education and Library sessions. Learning is extended beyond the classroom through context-based inquiry learning days, incursions and excursions, and community partnerships, while a STEAM-based approach promotes a curious and creative approach to environmental and sustainability learning. All Junior School students are provided with iPads and work within the School's Canvas learning management system to foster responsible digital citizenship. Differentiated instruction is supported by an Individual Programs Department, which identifies students requiring additional targeted support or extension through formative assessment, testing and monitoring. The program is delivered face-to-face across seven year levels (approximately 364 weeks) at the School's campus on Kalinda Road, Ringwood, in Melbourne's outer east. Overseas students completing the Junior School continue into the School's Middle School program from Year 7.
