About This Course

Secondary Yrs 7-12 at Wesley College Melbourne spans the Middle School (Years 7-9) and Senior School (Years 10-12), delivered across the Elsternwick (Years 7-9 only), Glen Waverley and St Kilda Road campuses. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, Years 7 to 10 are taught through the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), which challenges students to connect the Australian Curriculum to real-world contexts and builds subject knowledge alongside communication, global engagement and intercultural understanding skills.

In Years 7 and 8, students study eight core MYP subject groups spanning the Arts, Design, Language Acquisition, Language and Literature, Mathematics, Sciences, Individuals and Societies, and Physical and Health Education. In Year 9, students study six mandatory subject groups plus electives, including an eight-week residential term at Wesley's Clunes campus in regional Victoria, where experiential and community-based learning form part of the IB MYP.

In Years 11 and 12, students choose between two academic pathways: the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), completing a minimum of six subjects in Year 11 and five in Year 12 (including English), or the IB Diploma Programme (IB DP), a globally recognised two-year qualification requiring six subjects across English, mathematics, science, humanities, languages and the arts, alongside Theory of Knowledge, an Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS). Sport is compulsory throughout Years 7-12, and students have access to personalised subject and pathway guidance from Heads of Learning and careers counsellors, including the College's annual Careers Expo.
