Senior Secondary Yrs 11-12

The school promotes three Senior pathways: the ATAR pathway (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank), which is the standard pathway to university for most students (90%); the Blended pathway, a combination of the ATAR and other opportunities such as a Diploma of Business, Certificate III, or AMEB Level 7 to receive a rank allowing university entrance; and the Portfolio pathway, which involves Vocational Education Training in Certificate II and III courses and traineeships alongside applied or general senior subjects to ensure students are work-ready.

Ipswich Girls' Grammar School is an accredited Registered Training Organisation (RTO: 30310) and offers the following qualifications on scope: CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, FSK20119 Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways, ICT30120 Certificate III in Information Technology, SIT10222 Certificate I in Hospitality, SIT20322 Certificate II in Hospitality, and 11110NAT Certificate II Functional Literacy.

The school provides personalised one-to-one interviews twice per year for each and every student with a member of the Executive Team – Deputy Principal, Dean of Teaching, Learning and Innovation, Dean of Students, or Careers Counsellor. These consultations are incorporated as part of the school's commitment to holistic education and also serve to review each student's academic progress towards the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and tertiary entrance standards.

Every student is provided with a personal device as part of the school's 1:1 Laptop Program. Ready access to technology means girls are highly engaged in learning and more creative in the work they produce. They communicate more with teachers and curriculum materials are easier to access, equipping them with 21st century skills to transition to higher education and life beyond the School's gates. All students are required to abide by the Appropriate Use of Technology policy.

Yes, the school nurtures girls as global citizens with international and national study tour opportunities. School tours overseas are offered to countries such as Japan, China, South-east Asia, Germany and the United Kingdom and, closer to home, Tasmania. The girls also learn from visiting study tours from China, Japan and Germany where guest students share classes, conversations and culture for a week, month or term.
