Common Questions
To be eligible for the Foundation Standard Program, you need to have completed year 11 or equivalent and achieved an equivalent IELTS of 5.5 with 5 in each band. The program takes two semesters to complete.
When you successfully complete your SIBT Foundation Program and obtain the required Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0 (on a 10 point scale) for your preferred diploma, you will be guaranteed a place in that diploma. Additionally, students who pass the first 4 recommended units of the Foundation Program (Standard) and achieve an overall average of 70% or above may be eligible to fast track and transfer into an SIBT Diploma.
Assessment methods vary depending on the units selected. The program uses a combination of assessment tasks, including individual and group assignments, essays, oral presentations, tutorial participation and formal examinations.
There are six elective streams available: Arts, Media and Communications; Business and Commerce; IT; Engineering; Health; and Social Science. Each stream has three elective units, which are chosen to align with the SIBT Diploma you wish to progress into.
While the programs are specifically designed for international students, the SIBT Foundation Program can also provide academic preparation — academic communication, reading and writing skills — for domestic students seeking entry to first year undergraduate study.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
