Study Abroad programs are for students from home universities that may or may not have an active exchange agreement with Western Sydney University, and tuition fees apply. Exchange programs are only available for nominated students from home universities with an active exchange agreement with Western Sydney University. Both programs offer a 1 Session (semester) or 2 Session (year-long) option.
The application deadlines are: Autumn Session (March–June) – 31 October; Spring Session (July–November) – 30 April. For Postgraduate Business students studying Quarter sessions, the same deadlines apply: Quarter 1 + Quarter 2 (January–June) – 31 October; Quarter 3 + Quarter 4 (June–November) – 30 April.
If English is not your first language and you have not been studying in English at the tertiary level, you will need to provide a recognised English test. Accepted tests and scores are: IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with minimum 6.0 in all bands; TOEFL iBT total 82 (Writing 21, Speaking 18, Reading 13, Listening 13); PTE Academic overall 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50; Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English level B2, overall score 176 with no section less than 169; or a CEFR statement on the partner's letterhead. Evidence is valid for two years from the date of the test or completion of studies.
Exchange and Study Abroad students can choose from subjects across most schools at Western Sydney University, except the School of Medicine or School of Nursing and Midwifery. Cross-school enrolment is permitted. To access information about a subject's content and learning outcomes, students should select 'subject details' in the online handbook.
You need to include: a copy of your passport (if available), saved as 'PASSPORT'; a certified copy of your most recent academic transcript (translated to English if applicable), saved as 'TRANSCRIPTS'; and a recognised English test (if required), saved as 'ENGLISH CERTIFICATE'. You must also complete your online application through the Western Sydney University International Application System before the relevant deadline.
