Common Questions
You may apply (i) directly to Sydney Abroad, (ii) through a Study Abroad Program Partner, (iii) through a Study Abroad Agent, or (iv) through a Study Abroad University Partner. A list of program partners and agents can be found on the Sydney Abroad website. If applying directly to Sydney Abroad, you should complete the online application available through the 'Apply' button on the course page.
The application deadlines are Semester 1: 30 November of the previous year, and Semester 2: 30 April of the same year. The University strongly encourages applicants to apply as early as possible, as offers are made on a rolling basis. Late applications may be considered on a case by case basis.
This course is currently not available to domestic students. However, if you are a citizen of Australia and New Zealand or a permanent resident of Australia living overseas and would like to study abroad at the University of Sydney, you should apply for admission as a local non-award student.
To be considered for the Study Abroad Program you need to have completed the equivalent of an Australian Bachelor degree and submit substantiating evidence (testamur), provide evidence of written support from supervisors at both your home university and the University of Sydney, provide a one page research proposal, and have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale, a 'Credit' or 'Good' average, or an average grade of 'C' or better on the European ECTS grading scale (or equivalent). All applicants must also meet the published English language requirements.
The interdisciplinary nature of the University of Sydney offers a huge range of study options. Specialisations are not applicable with non-award courses, but most students will study in areas that they are studying at their home institution. You should discuss your research plans with your home university supervisor, and once you have approval, establish contact with an appropriate supervisor at the University of Sydney.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
