Transition Program

There are four specialisations available: Pre-Masters (Engineering), Pre-Masters (Information Technology), Pre-Masters (Art & Design), and Pre-Masters (Media), each designed to prepare students for specific postgraduate degrees at UNSW Sydney.

Upon successful completion of the Pre-Masters Program, you can step straight into your chosen master's degree at UNSW Sydney. For example, completing the Pre-Masters (Information Technology) allows you to progress to a master's degree at the UNSW School of Computer Science and Engineering.

You will have access to world-class UNSW facilities including libraries, design studios, computer, engineering and science labs, as well as clubs and societies from day one, with the added support of UNSW College behind you. Smaller class sizes mean teachers can devote more time and attention to each individual.

Each Pre-Masters course is assessed using a variety of methods resulting in a final mark between 0 and 100. Grades range from High Distinction (HD, 85–100%), Distinction (DN, 75–84%), Credit (CR, 65–74%), Pass (PS, 50–64%), and Fail (FL, below 50%), among other special grades such as SY (Successful), UF (Unsatisfactory Fail), and AW (Academic Withdrawal).

The Pre-Masters Program offers an opportunity to enhance your critical thinking, academic writing, project management, research, and communication skills. Depending on your specialisation, you may also develop skills in innovation, entrepreneurship, engineering, storytelling, strategy, or creative and conceptual abilities.
