The Bachelor of Engineering (Maritime) (Honours) is delivered through a 2+2 structure: Years 1–2 are completed at Flinders University in Adelaide (Tonsley campus), where you build core engineering foundations, and Years 3–4 are completed at the Australian Maritime College in Launceston, Tasmania, where you specialise in maritime systems and technologies at one of the world's top maritime engineering facilities.
Yes. Once you've completed your common year, any Engineering (Honours) degree you choose to move into is accredited by Engineers Australia. Professional engineering courses accredited by Engineers Australia are recognised internationally under the Washington Accord, and graduates meet the academic requirements for attaining chartered professional engineering status.
Domestic students can gain guaranteed entry with an ATAR of 80.00, a STAT score of 150.0, or a GPA of 4.5. A TAFE/VET Diploma or above is also accepted. Prerequisites include SACE Stage Two Specialist Mathematics or Mathematical Methods or equivalent, and knowledge of SACE Stage Two Physics or equivalent is assumed. Multiple pathway options are also available, including Engineering (Honours) Flexible Entry, General Entry, Engineering Science, Science, and Diploma in Arts.
Graduates can pursue careers as Naval Architects (typical salary $110K), Marine Systems Engineers (typical salary $102K), Subsea Engineers, Automation and Control Engineers, and Defence Project Engineers. Employment opportunities span ship design, naval defence, sustainability, offshore energy, and autonomous marine technology, with organisations such as the Royal Australian Navy, ASC, and Austal.
