In Year 1, you are introduced to the property industry with an overview of property principles, valuation techniques and property investment strategies, along with an introduction to construction and project management. Year 2 covers property development and investment, principles of valuation, applied law, property economics and leadership. Year 3 builds on Year 2 with in-depth study of valuation procedures, asset management, property investment markets and a research methods subject. Year 4 is industry-focused and culminates in three major capstone projects: an industry-focused property research thesis, an investment project, and an in-depth property development proposal.
The degree is connected with the Employer of Choice program, which provides exposure to more than 350 industry partners and employers, including GPT Group, Stockland, JLL, M3property, CBRE, Knight Frank, Charter Keck Cramer, Heron Todd White, Preston Rowe Paterson, Urbis, ISPT, Mirvac and Oliver Hume. Yes, students have the option to study overseas for a semester as an exchange or Study Abroad student through RMIT's network of over 165 partner universities worldwide. Over the past 10 years, students have completed global study tour intensives in the UAE, London, Paris, Barcelona, New York, San Francisco, Japan and New Zealand, allowing them to see firsthand how property markets and practices vary in different environments and cultures.
The degree allows you to complete four elective courses (48 credit points) that form a minor, providing a secondary knowledge area alongside your property major. Available minors include: Blockchain Enabled Business, Construction Cost and Contract Management, Construction Innovation and Digital Technology, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Finance Planning, Applied Project Skills, Managing Construction Business, Marketing, Project Management Practice, and Urban Strategy and Sustainable Planning.
