Interested in drafting and design? This Certificate III in Engineering (Technical) (MEM30522) sets students up for a career in a drafting office or as an engineering technician. Delivered on campus at Regency Park, full-time or part-time, the course teaches students to produce detailed technical drawings and 3D models, and to design and develop prototypes using computer-aided design (CAD) programs and processes. Students gain a working understanding of the computing technology and software used in engineering workplaces, including how to operate CAD systems, computers and peripherals, alongside foundational knowledge of basic mechanical components, drive components, pneumatic systems and hydraulic systems. The qualification comprises 3 core units — covering mathematical techniques for manufacturing and engineering, interacting with computing technology, and organising and communicating information — plus 7 elective units, including operating CAD systems to produce basic drawing elements, performing engineering measurements and computations, reading and interpreting technical engineering drawings, and selecting common engineering materials. Entry requires completion of a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Assessment.
