About This Course

This qualification reflects the role of wall and ceiling liners who work with plasterboard and other lining materials to install, repair and finish interior systems in residential and commercial environments. Learners develop skills to plan work, measure, set out, cut and fix plasterboard, assemble partitions, construct suspended ceilings, install fire-rated systems and carry out finishing and joining processes. Training is delivered through structured theory learning and extensive hands-on workshop practice to build competence in installation, alignment, levelling, cutting, fixing, jointing, sanding, and finishing techniques. Graduates will be equipped to work safely to industry standards, interpret construction plans, meet WHS compliance, and perform manual and powered-tool operations relevant to domestic and commercial construction settings.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Students must be above 18 years of age while filling up the application form.
A Pre-Training Review (PTR) is conducted prior to enrolment to ensure training and assessment can meet the student's individual needs.
VET students are required to complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) skills assessment (ACSF Level 3) prior to enrolment.
English Language Requirements (International Students): Minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent for direct entry; or IELTS 5.5 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 10 weeks); or IELTS 5.0 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 20 weeks); or Oxford Placement Test score of 61 or higher. Results older than two years are not acceptable.
Academic Requirements: Applicants must have successfully completed Year 12 or secondary studies equivalent to the Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (Year 12); OR Mature Age students may be considered without minimum education requirements if they have relevant work experience (minimum 2 years normally expected) within the chosen area of study and a demonstrated capacity to meet course requirements, supported by an employment reference letter, work samples, and curriculum vitae.
All students must have basic computer skills.
Students must have access to a laptop or computer with Windows 7 operating system or higher for self-study.
Students must have an active email address and be contactable by phone and by mail.
Students must have access to MS Office applications such as Microsoft Word and an email platform.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kit is required for practical training, including: Safety Shoes (Steel toe), Protective glasses, Safety vest (Neon/Glowing), Protective gloves, Earmuffs, Working uniform, Mask, and Hard hat. The kit can be purchased from the school for $400 or from outside suppliers.
