Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining

The CPC31220 Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining is a 52-week program delivered by Bentley College. Students gain competency in wall and ceiling lining, developing practical construction skills across 29 units of competency — 22 core and 7 elective. Core units cover constructing and installing bulkheads, assembling partitions, working safely at heights, workplace communication, measurements and calculations, reading and interpreting plans and specifications, fixing standard plasterboard wall and ceiling sheets, battens, wet area sheets, sheets to external protected areas, and fibre cement board, applying finish standards, mixing plastering compounds, finishing and sanding plasterboard joints, cutting and fixing paper-faced cornices, installing dry wall passive fire-rated systems and suspended ceilings, and workplace health and safety requirements. Electives extend into finance for new business ventures, levelling procedures, scaffolding, windows and doors, demolition, elevated work platforms, and equipment inspection. The course suits learners entering the wall and ceiling lining trade. Entry requires English proficiency at IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, results no more than 2 years old (or completion of General English/English for Academic Purposes at Upper Intermediate level), suitable LLN skills, completion of Australian Year 10 or equivalent (or mature age), and a minimum age of 18. On completion, graduates are prepared for roles as wall and ceiling liner, drywaller and/or plasterer, and can progress into the CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building), CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building), or other Certificate IV and Diploma-level CPC qualifications.
