Graduate Diploma in Design

Applicants are required to have either work experience in Design or cognate areas, or a Bachelor degree in Design or cognate areas. Applicants with work experience or a Bachelor degree in non-cognate areas, or other pathways, should contact the Course Coordinator.

The domestic fee-paying postgraduate tuition fee for 2026 is $23,484, based on a first-year full-time study load of 200 credits. The total cost will depend on your course options, including units selected and time taken to complete. Domestic fee-paying students may be eligible for FEE-HELP assistance.

Yes, on successful completion of the Graduate Diploma in Design, you may enrol in the master degree.

You will develop advanced knowledge of a field of design practice through the creation of new artefacts, services, products or processes; apply advanced knowledge, theories, frameworks and practices relevant to design-led innovation; demonstrate a critical reflection on design theory, practice and history; apply knowledge of design to identify and solve design problems; professionally communicate concepts and proposals; and develop an advanced understanding of the value of design to communities, enterprises and the public.

The course is offered on campus at Curtin Perth with intakes in Semester 1 and Semester 2 for both 2026 and 2027. For 2026, Semester 1 applications are now closed and Semester 2 applications close 5 July 2026. For 2027, Semester 1 applications close 28 January 2027 and Semester 2 applications close 1 July 2027.
