Common Questions
Yes, the Master of Architecture is accredited with the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA), which means graduates are eligible to practice as a registered architect.
Applicants who have completed a three-year undergraduate architectural course from another institution will be assessed using a Range of Criteria, including submission of an online portfolio (between 10 and 20 pages), a personal statement, and university transcripts. A review of prior learning in relation to the Swinburne Bachelor of Design (Architecture) will also be necessary, and supplemental transitionary classes may be required.
Your portfolio should be between 10 and 20 pages and must address architecture- and/or urban design-related questions with visual examples. Swinburne looks for evidence of conceptual thinking and level of ambition, spatial thinking and planning, digital and analogue communication skills including architectural drawing conventions, and construction and environmental technology. Concept sketches, 3D models, and working drawings that display your thinking process are welcome alongside finished outcomes. All work must be original, images must be clearly labelled, and group work contributions must be clearly indicated.
International students in Australia who hold student visas are required to study full-time and on campus. Courses taught entirely online are only available to international students studying outside Australia or those in Australia who are not on a student visa.
The Master of Architecture has strong industry connections and co-creation with firms including Elenberg Fraser, Bates Smart, John Holland, and S'more design, with Work Integrated Learning opportunities available through these partnerships.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
