Common Questions
Yes, the Master of Architecture at The University of Notre Dame Australia is an accredited program. In Australia, architectural programs are accredited through a process run nationally by the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) and the relevant state-based Architects Board.
You are required to complete four practicum placement courses: ARCH6003 Technology in Practice: Practicum A, ARCH6004 Technology in Practice: Practicum B, ARCH6008 Professional Practice Practicum, and ARCH6011 Practice Management Practicum. During these placements, you apply your professional and technical learning in local practices under the supervision of a Registered Architect, collecting evidence to meet the Australian National Standard of Competency for Architects.
Applicants must have a recognised Australian or international bachelor level degree in Architecture or equivalent. The application process includes an interview based on a portfolio of bachelor level work and may also include relevant professional work. Advanced standing and/or recognition of prior learning may be available by application to the Dean, or delegate, in accordance with the University's General Regulations.
The program offers Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) for eligible domestic students, where the Australian Government pays part of your fees and you pay the student contribution amount, which can be deferred using a HECS-HELP loan. International students are Full Fee Paying, with tuition costs depending on study load and discipline, payable each semester at least four weeks prior to commencement.
The program covers four key areas: (1) Design studios, technologies, and applied skills — socio-spatial design studios provide opportunities to use knowledge, creativity, and strategic problem-solving skills; (2) Technology in practice and professional practice — placements with professional partners under the direct supervision of an architect; (3) Contexts: theory and architecture research — developing high-level strategic research agility, resourcefulness, and design innovation; and (4) Core Curriculum — including the course Ethical Issues in Professional Life: Architecture, exploring moral philosophy and applied ethics in the profession.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
