Master of Clinical Audiology

Audiology is a clinical science involving assessment and management of hearing and balance and rehabilitation. Assessments involve the use of several specialised tests which help to ascertain the site or type of problem within the auditory system. Audiologists work closely with other healthcare practitioners including speech pathologists, ENT surgeons and Paediatricians. Audiologists integrate advanced technology (including the Cochlear Implant and hearing aids) with evidence-based techniques to provide patient centred care that optimises auditory function and communication skills. The Master of Clinical Audiology consists of on-campus teaching and clinical placements. Clinical placements commence in the first year and gradually increase throughout the course. In the second and final year of the course, students are also involved in a research project related to the field. Students demonstrating research aptitude may be considered for PhD studies within the department. This program provides comprehensive training in all aspects of audiology in both adult and paediatric populations. The course offers a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and supervised clinical experience, preparing students to directly enter the field upon graduation as a practicing Audiologist.
