Master of Counselling

Minimum Entry Requirements (International students), 3 entry-point structure: Entry level 1 (96 points, 2 years full-time/4 years part-time) — an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) with at least a high credit (65%) average. Entry level 2 (72 points, 1.5 years full-time/3 years part-time) — an Australian bachelor degree with at least high credit (65%) average and a minimum two years full-time equivalent relevant professional experience; OR bachelor degree in a related discipline (social work, psychology or counselling) with at least high credit (65%) average; OR a four-year bachelor honours degree/graduate certificate/graduate diploma with at least high credit (65%) average; OR an Australian master's degree with at least high credit (65%) average. Entry level 3 (48 points, 1 year full-time/2 years part-time) — combinations of the above qualifications plus two years relevant professional experience, or a related-discipline honours/graduate qualification with high credit average. English entry requirements (Level A): IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall (Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0, Speaking 6.0) or PTE (Academic) 58 overall (Listening 50, Reading 50, Speaking 50, Writing 50) or TOEFL iBT 79 overall (0-120 scale: Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18, Writing 21).

The course provides a professional qualification accredited by the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), preparing graduates for a rewarding career as a counsellor. It is suited to people transitioning from a variety of professions including human resources, health, social welfare and education into professional counselling roles, supported by supervised counselling placements (Placement A and B) as part of the course structure.
