You'll have the opportunity to work in professional environments on short dramas, documentaries and episodic web-series in roles including producing, directing, screenwriting, cinematography, editing and sound. The course also includes opportunities for professional placements with leading production companies through the Screen Industries Internship unit (MSP6125), which requires completion of at least 175 hours of placement in an approved professional work environment.
The estimated 1st year indicative fee for domestic students is AUD $23,400, and for international students it is AUD $37,700. These are indicative fees only — at ECU you pay for the individual units you enrol in, not an overall course fee, so the total cost will vary depending on what units you choose. ECU fees are adjusted annually.
Yes. This course allows eligible applicants to use their Bachelor, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma studies as the basis for up to 60 credit points of Credit and Recognition of Prior Learning (CRPL). You may be eligible if you have a Bachelor degree or major in a related discipline (Screen Production, Film, Broadcast Media, Media Production), a Bachelor degree with relevant coursework plus two years relevant work experience, or a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Screen Production (or equivalent). All applications are assessed individually.
The Master of Screen Production takes 2 years full-time (or part-time equivalent for domestic students). Students are required to complete 8 core units (totalling 200 credit points) and 2 units from the Core Options list (totalling 40 credit points). Core units include Screen Storytelling, Screen Scripted Project, Screen Documentary Lab, Screen Post-Production, and two Screen Production Major Project units, among others.
International applicants must meet English Language requirements (Band 4), which can be satisfied through an IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (with no individual band less than 6.0), a Bachelor degree from a country specified on the English Proficiency Bands page, successful completion of 0.375 EFTSL of study at postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent), or other tests, courses or programs defined on the English Proficiency Bands page.
